December 1936.
King Edward VIII is preparing to abdicate the throne so that he can marry an American divorcee, Wallis Simpson. On the eve of his abdication, an unexpected guest, Marlene Dietrich, shows up at his country residence. The Australian playwright Ron Elisha turns their meeting into a tense intellectual and erotic duel.
This is a story about passion, duty and the price of love, for which one gives away an empire. One night, one choice, one dress, one king and two strong women because Wallis Simpson is invisibly present on stage. In this production, a personal drama becomes a political catastrophe, and sincerity becomes the most dangerous weapon. You will see a story that never appeared in textbooks and hear songs that could have become the last soundtrack of the British monarchy.
SVETLANA STOLYAROVA
Svetlana Stolyarova was born in Riga and graduated with honors from the Yaroslavl Theatre Institute in 2011, Semyon Losev’s course. Currently, she is the leading actress of the Riga Youth Theatre «Society of Free Actors» (OSA) and the head of the children’s theatre studio at the theatre. Svetlana often acts in films, and her portfolio includes more than 20 full-length movies and TV series, including the leading part in the film “Sunny Rainshower”.
ALEXEY KORGHIN
Alexey Korgin was born in Petrozavodsk. He graduated from the Acting Department of the Petrozavodsk Conservatory, Arvid Zeland’s course, in 2007, and was immediately invited to join the troupe of the Mikhail Chekhov Riga Russian Theatre. Alexey worked there for 14 years and played many parts, including the Little Prince, the Count of Monte Cristo, etc. He participated in private stage productions in Latvia and other European countries.
